MORE New York

I think this is FINALLY the last of the New York pictures.

The Mets game

This is the restaurant within the stadium. It is super expensive, but you can eat while watching the game. We sat directly above this. I had my feet on the rail in front of us. I pulled my feet back through the rail and my flip flop falls off!...yup right into the restaurant! Ethan had to go and get it. When he got down there a lady was bringing it up to the hostess stand wrapped IN A NAPKIN, like it was diseased. She had a disgusted look on her face, Ethan quickly grabbed the flip flop and ran for it. OOPSThe polar bears in the zoo at central park. Jack thought this was pretty cool. Sorry the picture is so bad, it was taken with my phone.
Marry Poppins Broadway playAngel Moroni
The church building/temple
The Coach store 3 blocks away from our building.THE American Girl Doll store!! I felt like a kid again when I saw this.

Radio City
Giant needle and button in the fashion center.Ethan and his team. He had such a great time working with these people.

Ethan's office
I thought this was really cool. Look at the guy in the back of the truck...he is filming a movie. This happens a lot in New York. I was able to stop and watch a scene be filmed one day. Too bad we never know what is being filmed and if it will be in a movie or a tv show. Still its pretty fun to watch.
More Times Square at night
The view from the top of the red steps

The subway stop at the Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum
One of the many gorgeous churches in ManhattanThe Guggenheim...obviously

The MetWalking around the reservoir in central parkViews from central park...Ethan had a work picnic in this open area.
The track inside central park. This is always packed with runners, walkers, and bikers.
One of the many bridges in the park
The Obelisk, the oldest man-made construction in central park. It is an Egyptian monument.
Mormon.org ads were all over the place...on top of taxis was my favorite place to see them.Hearst Tower...right next to our buildingWe can't remember what this is...we think its a museum, but we can't figure out which one...its pretty though. :)This is the original Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals. This is in the children's section of the library on display.
Broadway in the Park. Really cool idea. They have different actors from all different Broadway shows come to Bryant Park (where Ethan had lunch everyday) and sing a few songs from the shows. And its completely free! They don't come in costume, but it is the real Broadway stars who come to sing. It is different shows that come each time, but it is every week. When I went they had songs from Wicked, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Rent and some other ones I can't remember. This was a lot of fun.
Oh Columbus Circle...this is the sign in the subway station. The Columbus Circle stop was where we always got on and off. We lived 3 blocks away from this stop.
This was inside grand central station one day. It is a bowling tournament for teenagers...I thought this was a random place to do this, but alas, here they were. The bowling champ won a $64,000 scholarship!!!!! Man I wish I could bowl.
Little Italy...pretty much all it is, is Italian restaurants and stores with jerseys from Italian sports teams.
China town...much more impressive. They have several shops that have raw fish and all kinds of sea food just out for people to buy...the smell is atrocious. They also have live crabs that they sell. While I was standing there waiting for Ethan to take pictures I saw a crab escape from the overflowing basket and scuttle down the sidewalk. A cute old Chinese man came chasing after it with a pair of tongs and thick rubber gloves. He picked it up with the tongs and put it back in the basket, but the crab had already grabbed hold of his gloves. It was kind of fun to watch the crab and the old man fight each other. The old man eventually won...poor crab.
We went to Brighton Beach down by Coney Island in Brooklyn. We took an hour subway ride down there. It was an interesting experience. I don't know that I have ever seen a beach so packed with people before. This area was a Russian speaking community. It was really neat walking down the street to the beach. I didn't understand any of the street signs, advertisements, or store names because everything was in Russian. In New York you hear so many different languages as it is, but here I rarely heard any English at all. The beach was fun, I guess. The water was really cold and Jack was afraid of the waves. I took him down to the water and put his feet in and he cried. I didn't see any kids playing in the sand (which is what I did whenever I went to the beach as a kid)...I actually didn't see very many kids at all. This beach was mostly older people getting a tan. Old men in speedos (eww) would stand around, yes stand, and rotate every 15 minutes or so. They would be facing the sun, then rotate to have their right side facing the sun, then their back, then their left side, and back to the front. Just standing in the middle of the beach (already with dark leathery skin). It was a fun experience.
