April 1
Today was a pretty short appointment, but a good one.
As he was looking at her today he was showing me which ventricles were
the problem and I said "her left ones don't look dilated anymore?" He said, nope they looked more dilated earlier on. I asked "did she just grow into it then?" His response was, yes.
So, she no longer has the pericardial effusion (fluid around her heart)
and has grown into her dilated heart. Well done little girl! Now we
just need to make the left side of her heart as strong as the right
side.
I asked him if my funneling cervix would prevent me from having another child. I know I asked the midwife last week, but I wanted to hear what he had to say. His response, was no. He would probably just want to take precautionary measures and put a cerclage in. "A cervical cerclage is a procedure in which sutures are used to close the cervix." He would do this because by this point I will be chasing around two kids and he wouldn't be able to put me on bed rest. He said the decision would be with me whether or not we wanted to do this, but that would be his gut instinct. He then said, "well then again, you have had me very worried with your cervix for the 13 weeks I have seen you and you haven't even budged. But that would be a gut decision we would make together when you get pregnant again."
He said to me today "Whoever is looking out for this little one out there is doing an incredible job." I told him it was from lots of prayers and fasting. She is now well over 4 pounds.
I also asked him if we knew a tentative time frame and he said, we are probably looking at the second week in May (for delivery). WOW, considering we thought I would go into labor way before now I would say only two weeks early would be fantastic! However, we will know more after my fetal echo on the 10th.
As he was walking out he said, with a big smile "this conversation is one I really didn't think we would get to have." I love watching his expressions every week as he is stumped time and time again.
